GRANTS, FUNDING & OTHER SUPPORT
We work hard to seek appropriate grants and funding opportunities to supplement our diverse programming, restoration and maintenance and operational cost needs.
We have been blessed with funding and other support from these amazing institutions as well as our individual donors and members. Please consider joining our organization as a member or making a donation to support our programming, operations and restoration efforts.
STOREY COUNTY FUNDING:
We are thankful for Storey County funding and in-kind support by the IT department and Public Works departments. Through this crucial support, we are able to address some of the critical restoration and maintenance work required to keep this amazing county property standing and available to visitors and our community that would otherwise not be covered through grants, donations and programming revenues.
NEVADA ARTS COUNCIL & NATIONAL ENDOWMENT OF THE ARTS:
Our programs have been funded in part by the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency,
The National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, a federal agency, including a fantastic 2-year 2025/26-2026/27 grant to support our operations, a Learning Arts Grant to support compensation for our amazing instructors, and recently, an America 250 grant to support a new mural in the new Lockwood Senior Community Center.
COMMISSION FOR CULTURAL CENTERS and HISTORIC PRESERVATION & STATE HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICE:
The CCCHP grants have been a funding cornerstone of our restoration and preservation efforts. Through these grants, and Storey County Building Grants, we have been able to achieve great improvements to protect and preserve this magnificent property. We are currently executing an FY24 grant elevating many amazing features of the property. We were recently awarded a FY26 grant to replace our dual boiler system with newer, more efficient equipment.
TRAVEL NEVADA:
We are currently executing two programs funded in part by Travel Nevada: An America 250 grant supporting marketing and advertising of our programming and the 150th anniversary of the historic property and America's 250th anniversary, and an accessibility grant to make our website accessible for as many visitors as possible, and the development of tour videos in English, Spanish, and Sign Language.
GOOGLE AD GRANT:
We are thrilled to receive a $10,000/month Google Ad Grant for marketing. We have been so pleased to see how this has improved traffic and website interactions, bookings, and new patronage. Thank you to ConnectAd for managing this grant on our behalf and helping ensure maximum results.
VISIT VIRGINIA CITY:
Continued support of our marketing efforts, sharing and showcasing our special events and amazing venue with visitors around the world.
VISIT CARSON CITY:
Grantee of the Travel Nevada 3D Cultural Corridor project (now the Dust and Wonder Trail), supporting the establishment of Dust and Wonder Trail and the incredible public art program, including at our art center.
DUST AND WONDER TRAIL:
A new nonprofit creating an arts and culture corridor between Virginia City, Gold Hill, Silver City, Carson City, and Carson Valley, this organization supports marketing visibility and our public art program.
RENO TAHOE INTERNATIONAL ART SHOW:
The O'Keefe family continues to make our participation at the RTIA show possible through special nonprofit rates, great booth locations, and visibility into our little corner of the arts world.

WOMEN INVESTIGATING GHOST SIGHTINGS:
Also known as W.I.G.S., this group of amazing people host annual paranormal investigation fundraisers to support our preservation efforts. For more than a decade W.I.G.S. has worked hard to volunteer their time and raise funds to restore and preserve this historic treasure. Follow them on Facebook for more information.
SOMETHING WEIRD VIDEO & AMERICAN GENRE FILM ARCHIVES:
Lisa Petrucci, owner of Something Weird Video, and the kind folks at American Genre Film Archives, graciously sponsor all of the screenings of the Godmonster of Indian Flats.
CENTRAL SIERRA CONSTRUCTION
Central Sierra Construction supports St. Mary's Art Center not only through their beautiful craftsmanship, but through donated and/or discounted time and materials to help us achieve our goals.
BIGHORN TREE SERVICE
BIghorn Tree Service installed the beautiful front grounds in 2024, including xeriscape, plants, flagstone pathway, and drip system. Donating much of their labor and including minimal or no markup for the plantings, they made our dreams a reality within the constraints of our budget. They continue to donate their time and support fertilizing the landscaping and repairing our drip system.
BERKELEY ART MUSEUM AND PACIFIC FILM ARCHIVE:
Instrumental in the restoration of Frederic Hobbs' "Aerobic Warrior", BAMPFA located and shared rare video of this rarely seen sculpture.
PVSA sponsored the Easter Egg Hunt on the Lawn + Art in the Studio for kids and donated class instruction.
LEIGH VANDENBERG:
Leigh donates her instruction and art supplies for many of our Arts & Crafts Revival Classes.
PETE PAULOS & STEVE WILLIAMS:
Executive Pastry Chef Pete Paulos donated their time catering An Intimate Fourth of July Spectacular and providing many supplies for the Edible Art with Chef Pete classes.
KARL GAMBRALL:
Donating his time as a musician during Art Lab and Art After Dark, as well as providing ongoing repair support of the property, helping reduce costs.
THE BAILEY FAMILY:
This incredible family provides ongoing event and fundraiser support for all of our faires, Easter Egg Hunt on the Lawn + Art in the Studio, An Intimate Fourth of July Spectacular, and more.

Last, but never least, our amazing members, faire participants, and patrons provide on-going support for our programming and numerous operating costs. We love having this diverse family of art and history lovers.
