Arts & Crafts Revival: Mokuhanga Printmaking

Join Carol Brown for this unique workshop and learn the art of Mokuhanga printmaking. This is a Japanese technique using wood blocks to create beautiful prints. Carol is a master at this method and will share her techniques with her students. All supplies are included.

Arts & Crafts Revival: Mokuhanga Printmaking

Join us for a beautiful afternoon of artistic exploration at our Mokuhanga Printmaking Class on July 19, 2026, led by Carol Brown.

Celebrate Artown with us! 

Students will learn to print with water-based inks on carved woodblocks using traditional Japanese art supplies and washi paper. Each student will create several prints using various designs and color combinations.

 

This workshop requires mobility: Students will be walking, standing and sitting. Students are invited to bring their own sack lunch and water.


This weekend class is part of our Arts and Crafts Revival series, celebrating long-loved arts and crafts mediums.

About the Instructor:

Well-known Japanese-influenced printmaker and papermaker, Carol leads workshops in papermaking and pressed paper objects. She earned a Certificate in Printmaking from the Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts in Houston Texas, and a Bachelor of Science in Clothing and Textiles from Oklahoma State University. The Nevada Arts Council has awarded Carol numerous grants in the arts and professional development. Her art has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions and is in private and permanent collections including private and corporate collections. Carol has a solo gallery exhibition, Mokuhanga class, and demonstration, scheduled for Summer 2026 at SMAC during Artown.
