SMAC's operating costs continue to grow as more and more year round programming is offered. Class fees contribute to a large portion of the overhead while the Citizens of Nevada through the Commission on Cultural Affairs, State Historic Preservation Office grants pay for the restoration of the building. In addition, SMAC receives support from The Nevada Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of Nevada and the National Endowment for the Arts and the Storey County Commissioners . Additional grants have been made by the John Ben Snow Memorial Foundation, Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation and The Terry Lee Wells Foundation. George Post, well known California painter and long time instructor at SMAC, made a sizeable contribution to SMAC upon his death. Individual donors include: Krump Construction of Sparks, Nevada.
